FAQs About Grace Early Learning Center
-
Is this a religiously affiliated organization? The Grace Early Learning Center is a ministry of Grace Episcopal Church of Elkridge Maryland. The Rector of Grace Church serves as Head of School and the Vestry serves as a Board of Directors. This means that Grace Church is responsible for the well-being and the administration of our Learning Center.
-
Is there religious instruction in the classrooms? No, we do not have religious instruction although we respect and appreciate all religions and will teach the history of celebrations like Christmas, Ramadan, Passover and other religious holidays that are celebrated by our families.
-
What are your hours of operation?Monday through Friday 7:00am-6:00pm, we ask that you please drop off your child before 10:00 am unless you have notified GELC about an appointment.
-
Are meals provided? We do not provide breakfast and lunch. However, we do provide morning and afternoon snack for your child as part of your tuition and fees. Lunch must either be provided from home or ordered from the Lunch Box Program. Please ask the office for more information about the Lunch Box Program. We are a nut free facility.
-
Are there security cameras?Yes, cameras are specifically for Grace's Director and Administration to use in monitoring the classrooms and for training purposes. For the protection of the children, there is no streaming video on our website or mobile app for parents.
-
Who will be caring for my child? The staff at Grace Early Learning Center consists of administrators, teachers, and aides that are passionate about early childhood education. Our entire staff receive background checks before starting employment and most teachers are CPR and First Aid Certified. Many of our teachers/staff have their college degrees and we support their continued learning with our Employee Incentive Program. This allows them to continue to provide your child with the best education possible. We also provide group professional development training courses throughout the year.
-
How do teachers and staff communicate with parents? We primarily use the Procare parent web portal or mobile app and the BAND messaging app to communicate with our parents. Parents can view their child's Daily Activities recorded by teachers and staff members. These activities can include meals, naptime, bathroom breaks, and more! BAND mobile app is used for group communication, individual communication, and updates to families from administration. Please see the office for access to the Procare and BAND mobile apps.
-
What safety precautions are taken during transportation to and from school? For transportation to or from elementary schools (Elkridge and Ducketts Lane) Grace Early Learning Center goes above and beyond to make sure your child is safe. Each child who is transported in care must be separately secured in a child car seat or seat belt appropriate for the child's age and weight, as specified by Maryland law. Car seats or booster seats are supplied by the parents and not by the Center. There are two rotations of staff members for morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up from schools. Prior to transporting your child, you must sign a “permission to transport” form. For Rockburn transportation, county buses are provided to and from GELC. A staff member will be present with your child during morning bus pick-up and afternoon bus drop-off.
-
What supplies will I need to provide?Supply lists vary depending on the program your child is enrolled in. The basic supplies needed are a water bottle and a change of clothes labeled with your child’s name. For a more detailed supply list please visit the program page for your child’s age group.
